Concert Photography - Asunojokei
Asunojokei is the best Blackgaze band in Japan. Proudly branding themselves as a “Fake Black Metal Band”, Asunojokei has earned acclaim from fans and critics alike due to their heavy, expressive and melodic sound. Exploding in popularity with their sophomore effort, アイランド (Island), Asunojokei has proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the Japanese noise and metal scenes, giving an aggressive sound a tenderness and fullness not often embraced by their contemporaries.
Opening alongside Asunojokei was Pale, an electrifying Blackgaze band weildling the manipulation of noise and feedback like a weapon. The two performing together was nothing less than a tour de force, creating a captivating duality between Pale’s aggression with Asunojokei’s emotive beauty.
On 7.6.2025, I had the opportunity to photograph the band alongside their opener, performing @ CYCLONE Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan.
