Concert Photography - honeydip

honeydip is one of the most celebrated bands of Japan’s first wave of Shoegaze during the mid-90s and early-2000s. Led by Jun Shibuya with Eiji Ichihara, Takahito Kajimoto, and Masato Hayashi, honeydip is known for their ambitious and atmospheric production. Largely moving away from the monolithic influence of bands like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, honeydip constantly redefined their sound throughout their lifespan. Portable Audio Science sculpted skyscraper height walls of sound with a psychedelic influence often missing from many shoegaze bands, while Groovy Indian Summer honed their pop songwriting while infusing it with the warmth of their native Japan.

After reforming in early 2024, honedip returned to the stage for the first time in nearly 15 years. On 7.10.2025, I had the opportunity to capture honeydip performing live @ CLUB SIETA in Kichijoji, Tokyo, photographing figureheads of the visual kei and japanese shoegaze scenes using experimental methods.
